6 Custom Steel Handrails Installed at Sigma Chi in Columbia MO

We just wrapped up a handrail job at the Sigma Chi fraternity house in downtown Columbia, MO - and this one was a full scope build from start to finish. Six handrails total, spread across multiple entrances around the building. Each one fabricated and installed by us.

Here's what made this one interesting. The house has several distinct entry points, each with its own staircase configuration. That meant no cookie-cutter approach. We had to lay out each rail individually, account for the different step counts and widths, and make sure every post was anchored solid. On a high-traffic building like this, a wobbly rail isn't an option.

Custom fabrication is really where a job like this lives or dies. We built each handrail to fit the specific geometry of each staircase - not just cut-to-length pipe slapped together. The finished product needed to look clean against a classic brick building while still being tough enough to handle daily use by a house full of people. That's a balance we think about on every commercial job we take on.

From layout and fab to final install and touch-up, we kept our attention tight the whole way through. The matte black finish ties in well across all the entrances and gives the building a sharp, consistent look without pulling attention away from the architecture. Clean lines, solid welds, properly set posts.
