Cracked Camper Frame Welded and Reinforced in Columbia MO

This camper came in with cracks on both sides of the frame - not just one spot, both sides. That tells you something about where the stress is concentrating, and just running a bead over the crack isn't going to fix that. It's going to crack again.

Here's what we actually did. We gouged both cracks out completely before welding. That's important. If you weld over a crack without opening it up first, you're not getting full fusion - you're just putting metal on top of a problem. Once the cracks were properly prepped, we welded them back up solid, then added reinforcement to the frame and the leaf spring brackets on both sides to spread the load out better. The goal is to keep it from failing in the same spot again.

The leaf spring brackets are a key part of this. That's where a lot of the road load transfers into the frame. If the frame is already cracked near that area and the brackets aren't reinforced, you're setting the whole repair up to fail. Tying everything together the right way is what makes the difference between a fix that lasts and one that doesn't.

This is mobile welding work - we came to the camper, not the other way around. The whole rig was up on jack stands in the driveway, wheels off, frame accessible. That's how we do it. No need to haul a cracked trailer anywhere when we can come to you and handle it on-site.
